We're home!
Jumbo everyone,
Just to let you know we arrived home safely on Tuesday, the 22nd. It was a long flight since
we had to be at the airport at 6:00 pm even though we didn't leave until 11:53 pm. A____
wanted to get back to Nairobi and find a parking spot for the Land Cruiser before dark. He
doesn't live in too good of an area. While in Dadaab his apartment had been broken into and
his TV and a few other things were stolen. His attitude was, "They need it more than I do." He
was very forgiving. We learned a lot from A____. He is one terrific guy!
We spent the last few days in Kenya at Acacia camp on the Swarma Plains. Tim and Diane
Bannister live on the ranch which covers 20,000 acres. The meals were a little too good-no
goat! We managed to regain any weight we had lost on the Dadaab diet.
The ranch is home to many African animals, though none of the BIG 5. We enjoyed our game
drives during which we saw wart hogs, wildebeests, giraffes, ostriches, and different varieties
of gazelles.
In the mornings we were entertained by monkeys on our roof. There were many different
birds around as well, all brightly coloured and interesting to watch.
This is where we had a debriefing from Tim Bannister. He's the Short Term Mission co-
ordinator for Kenya. We had tea with Diane before we left. Tim was off to Mombasa with a
group of youth. They were digging a ditch for one of the churches before heading to
Germany for a youth conference.
Thank you for thinking of us when we were away. Your thoughts and prayers kept us safe. I
(Dianne) arrived home with itchy welts over my body. I thought I had picked up some exotic
African disease only to discover it was a case of hives. One dose of Claritin took care of it.
