Merry Christmas!
My Last Newsletter . . .

I'll be home in a week! Time to trade
sunshine and t-shirts for rain and sweaters.
Time to see my family! Time to see friends!
So much to look forward to...

However, it is also time to leave the kids I
love so much at Oasis, the friends I have
made and the life I have built in Johannes-
burg. When I return to South Africa in mid-
January, it's off to Stellenbosch (near Cape
Town) for studies in Theology.

The next few months is a time of transition.
In times like these, I am so thankful that
God is a constant - the Great
Unchangeable One! The One to rely on.

So... here are a few closing thoughts on a
year in South Africa.

Pray for the kids

Zinhle & Christopher make cookies... again!

A quick overview of the Oasis kids and what to pray for...

Themba & Zandile - 3 years old. Twins! Zinhle (5) is their older
sister. My cell phone received a message the other day while
Zandile was holding my phone. It vibrated in her hand. "Chris!
Your phone just farted!" she said to me with a shocked look.
Pray that these siblings get adopted soon - they are desperate
to belong to someone.

Keamogetswe, Mbali & Leroy - 1 year olds. These three are the
youngest at Oasis. All three are healthy despite Leroy being born
4 months premature last December. Pray that they are adopted
and that they develop well. Leroy is particularly behind. Kea is
starting to call me by name. :)

Amanda & Thandi - 2 year olds. Amanda is HIV+. She is healthy
for the time-being and on anti-retrovirals, but battles occasionally
with different ailments. Thandi came to us completely neglected.

Immanuel: God with us
"The people walking in darkness have seen a
great light... For to us a child is born, to us a
son is given, and the government will be on
his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful
Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father,
Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his
government and peace there will be no end."
(Isaiah 9)

Indeed, we are often a people walking in
darkness. I often feel that way in South
Africa with the countless challenges that
face this nation... and the countless
challenges that face every orphaned or
abandoned child.

2 yrs old and unable even to sit. She is now walking and talking -
what a joy! Please pray for health and development. Every time
Amanda sees me she says "Stop it!" and I say "You stop it!"
(Repeat about 10 times!)

Boitumelo, Christopher & Princess - 3, 5 & 7 years old. Melo &
Christopher are both HIV+ but doing well. Princess is busy at
school and will be starting Grade 2 in January. Princess, being
the oldest at Oasis, often flexes her bossy muscle and rules
the roost. Pray for these three in their education, their emotional
balance and for adoption!

Please Pray For...

*the whole development of every child at Oasis
*my safety on the way home: Dec 10-13
*my new student visa application for next year
adoptions!

BUT... There is a Wonderful
Counselor present in
times of need.

There is a Mighty God with power to
heal and to save.

There is an Everlasting Father for
each of these children.

There is a Prince of Peace offering
his sacrifice for our forgiveness.

Thank you for your willingness to help -
seeking to add God's love to
a few beautiful lives!
