MESSAGE FROM THE COORDINATOR

PASS THE FACIAL TISSUE!! Does this
sound familiar during Spring at your home?
Do you dread the coming of Spring
because of your allergies to pollen? Do
you wonder, "How could God create such
beautiful flowers with such irritating
components?" Well, we read in Genesis
1:31 that the world God created was
indeed "very good". But in Genesis 3 we
learn that sin came into the world
resulting in both people and the world
being cursed. Our human bodies are no
longer perfect; we suffer many physical
difficulties. But God's Word reminds us
there is much hope for Christians for our
bodies! Physical suffering will end when
we join Jesus in heaven. The Apostle Paul
says in Philippians 3:21, "Jesus Christ will
transform our lowly bodies so that they
will be like His glorious body." Revelation
21 reveals that our current earth will pass
away and in the new earth there will be
no more suffering for the "old order of
things has passed away." As I reach for
another facial tissue and anti-histamine,
these encouraging words help me to
return my focus to God remembering that
my suffering is short-lived compared to
the everlasting perfect health that is
available to anyone who calls Jesus Christ
her Lord and Saviour. If you haven't yet
taken this step of faith, I urge you to
contact me or one of the pastors or
leaders of the women's groups.

Women's Ministry Update:
The women of White Rock Baptist joined together in late January for the Great Canadian Bible Study. This
luncheon event, sponsored by our
denomination's "Women in Focus", encouraged us in many ways. We looked
at Mary and Martha and how God wants
us to emulate both of them by making
time to be attentive to His words as well
as to take care of the needs of others.
In discussing Mary and Martha's grief
over the premature death of their
brother, Lazarus, many ladies shared
their personal experiences with grief and
how God had been their Comforter just
as He had been to these New Testament
women. Not only were we blessed but
we raised funds to be a blessing for
ministry projects in Kenya.

Two new groups have started: the
Women's Friendship Group and the
Christina Kirkley Prayer Team.
Come May and June many of our
groups will be winding down for the
summer break giving their leaders a time
of rest and refreshment before startup
again in September. We are thankful
for all the leaders for their commitment
to the spiritual growth of those in their
group!

TUESDAY@ONE LADIES' BIBLE STUDY

The Tuesday@One group is buzzing, with an average of 25 - 28 ladies attending our weekly study. I think I can speak for each one of us that studying Women of the Old Testament-and more recently Women of the New Testament-has been a real blessing and encouragement. We especially enjoy everyone's participation. It proves that we are a close-knit group, where everyone feels comfortable to contribute to the discussions.

We will close our studies with a potluck lunch- eon on May 16th, and we look forward to the Fall, with new discoveries in God's Word.

Wishing everyone a great summer!
- Christel Taylor.

THE MUFFIN GANG

Since September 2005, the
Muffin Gang has grown. There
are now six ladies who meet
every Saturday afternoon from
1:00 to 3:30 for fellowship,
Scripture, and prayer. During
our get-together we remember
one another's prayer requests,
and we pray for those listed on
the prayer request list at White
Rock Baptist Church. We end
our afternoon with the Lord's
prayer. We miss Cynthia
G., who has moved to
Rossland, BC, but we still stay
in contact with her. If any woman
is looking for fellowship and
friends, you're welcome to join
us. For more information please
contact the church office 604-531-2344

PAGE TWO
FELLOWSHIP AND MENTORING
A Mentoring Workshop was held in March led by
Betsy Wieser of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. We
were thrilled with the response and rejoice in the
way Betsy shared her experience with us. Her
warmth, enthusiasm and generosity was inspiring.
We feel that great benefits can be achieved in the
spiritual lives of the women of White Rock Baptist
as they are encouraged, supported and loved.

A team has been drawn together consisting of
Dorean Lowry, Susan Janetti, Eleanor North, Liv
Butow and Ruth André. During June these ladies
will meet to formulate plans to initiate a mentoring
program in our church.

Two are better than one ... if one falls down, her
friend can help her up. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

Please pray for this project as we together seek to
take the hands of other women to support and
encourage them in their journey. The most
important aspect of this ministry is prayer. It will
be wonderful if you would partner with us in
praying for potential mentors and the women who
need support and encouragement, that God will
draw us together in love.

Advance Notice!
Ladies, mark your calendar! Plan to attend "Friends'
Retreat" on September 8 and 9 which is for anyone
interested in participating in the new Mentoring
Program. A mentoring orientation and kick-off
meeting will also occur in the fall.
- Liv Butow

Thank you!
The MOMS (Ladies Morning Out) would like to say a BIG Thank You to Evelyn Rempel, Christel Taylor, Ann Tekavec and Helen Chung who helped with child minding this year. Due to the ladies' dedication and caring, we felt our children were very well looked after and they had lots of fun. In the fall we are hoping that four other women will be able to join them in order for us to keep our cost of the program low. Your commitment would be for two hours, 9:30 am - 11:30 am, once a month on a Wednesday. You and one of the other women already helping will supervise playing, snack time and maybe a movie. You can make it as much or little structured, as you like. For more information please call the church office:

FLORENCE LAWFORD MISSION GROUP
The ladies have supported the Crisis Pregnancy
Centre (CPC) for many years with a layette such
as pictured here. We are the only church group
that gives hand-knitted items. Simone Dumont,
Director of the CPC, will be speaking at our next
meeting, Tuesday, May 9 at 1:30 in the Fireside
Room. She will be launching the annual "Operation
Baby Bottle" campaign that runs from Mother's
Day to Father's Day. Last year the change put
into these bottles totaled $18,000 in donations
from many sources. The money will help the CPC
to continue to reach out to women in need,
provide ongoing programs for clients such as post
abortion peer counseling, lifestyle peer counseling
and an upcoming early-bird pre-natal program. It
also enables them to provide practical needs such
as baby clothing, maternity clothes, layettes for
new moms, furniture and diapers. The layettes will
be on display at the meeting. This is a group that
reaches into the community and around the world.
Ladies, don't miss this meeting!
Simone will be sharing stories such as the
following mom's story: "I came in contact with
the CPC about two years ago when I was
pregnant. At the time, I was suffering from
severe agoraphobia so a volunteer came to my
home. Jenny talked to me about God, and
because of all my fears I grabbed onto this
lifeline, wanting to know more. The first meeting
started a relationship with her that is still on-
going. Since then, I have committed my life to
Jesus, and have been attending church. The first
time I rode with Jenny in her car, she said
something that I held onto and that changed my
outlook. She told me, 'Look, look out there, it's
such a big, big world. You are missing so much.'
Since that day, there have been so many
changes that have happened in my life, including:
my depression being lifted, being able to go out in
a car, going to restaurants, and many of my
fears diminishing; all these changes are God-
changes. I know that God is working in me and
that He is with me. Nothing in the world can hurt
me. I trust in God."
